Microsoft's Leap into AI

Microsoft has been pushing the boundaries in AI, seeking to provide an AI copilot for every individual both in their personal lives and at work. The new Microsoft 365 Copilot, combining powerful language models and your data from Microsoft Graph and Microsoft 365 apps, has ushered in a new mode of working. This has allowed millions of users worldwide to incorporate Bing into their lives in innovative ways, unlocking their creativity and gaining a better understanding of the world. Early feedback suggests that Copilot could indeed be a productivity game-changer.

Introducing Bing Chat Enterprise: Your AI Copilot at Work

At the Microsoft Inspire event, Bing Chat Enterprise was unveiled, an AI-powered chat tool specifically designed for work. It addresses the needs of more than 160 million users, catering to their demands for an efficient, secure, and productive digital workspace. This tool protects sensitive business data, ensuring it remains confined within your organization, and provides a medium to research industry insights, analyze data, and find creative inspiration.

Bing Chat Enterprise offers comprehensive, verifiable answers backed with citations and visually engaging responses in the form of graphs, charts, and images. The tool aligns with Microsoft's AI principles, reflecting its user-centric approach to AI development.

The service is rolling out in preview today and is included at no additional cost in Microsoft 365 E3, E5, Business Standard, and Business Premium. Eventually, it will be available as a standalone offering at $5 per user per month.

Bing Chat Enterprise will be on by default for customers licensed for eligible plans in mid-August 2023. If your organization wants to enable it before mid-August, please have the Global admin or Search admin complete the configuration outlined in this article: Manage Bing Chat Enterprise | Microsoft Learn.

Visual Search in Chat: A New Way to Search

A significant feature of Bing Chat Enterprise is Visual Search in Chat, which enables users to search the web using images, rather than just words. This multimodal capability leverages OpenAI's GPT-4 model, allowing anyone to upload images and search for related content. Bing's ability to understand the context of an image and answer questions about it offers an interactive and intuitive search experience.
