August Updates to Microsoft Intune - Service Release 2308

In response to popular demand from Intune users, some significant new capabilities and features were incorporated into Microsoft Intune to help accelerate productivity and intuitively improve endpoint security management. Users can now uninstall Windows apps right from Intune Company Portals, install a broader range of applications on macOS, and benefit from a cohesive new management experience for endpoint security settings.  

Microsoft Intune has had some key updates during the month of August, including new service release 2308.  Here are all the details about the recent updates.

Week of August 21, 2023 (service release 2308) 

 

App management 
  • Managed Home Screen end-users prompted to grant exact alarm permission.
  • Managed Home Screen notifications.
  • End users can pin web apps to the dock on your macOS devices.
  • You can set a configurable installation time to deploy Win32 apps.
  • Add additional detection of device health compromises on Samsung Knox devices.
Device configuration 
  • Remote Help is available in public preview for Android Enterprise Dedicated devices from Zebra and Samsung.
  • Group Policy analytics is generally available (GA). Use Group Policy analytics to analyze your on-premises group policy objects (GPOs) for their migration to Intune policy settings.
  • New SSO, login, restrictions, passcode, and tamper protection settings available in the Apple settings catalog
Device Enrollment
  • Just-in-time registration and compliance remediation for iOS/iPadOS Setup Assistant with modern authentication now generally available.
  • Awaiting final configuration for iOS/iPadOS automated device enrollment now generally available.
DEVICE MANAGEMENT
  • An update to how Android apps handle notification permissions to align with recent changes made by Google to the Android platform
DEVICE SECURITY
  • The profile Defender Update controls for Intune Endpoint security Antivirus policy, which manages update settings for Microsoft Defender, is now generally available.
  • Microsoft released a new report named Elevation report by applications for Endpoint Privilege Management (EPM).
  • The Microsoft Defender Antivirus profile for macOS devices has been updated with nine additional settings, and three new settings categories.
Monitor and Troubleshoot
  • The Intune remote action to collect diagnostics from a Windows device now includes data in a log file.
  • Anomaly detection device cohorts in Intune Endpoint analytics is now generally available.
  • Improved user experience for device timeline in Endpoint Analytics.
